More than half of U.S. mutual fund investors who don't currently own socially responsible investment funds say they are interested in investing in them, according to a December survey sponsored by SRI fund provider The Calvert Group. Of 800 investors surveyed, 54% expressed an interest in SRI funds, up from 49% in 2002 and 40% in 1999, according to a Calvert news release. The survey also showed solid majorities of respondents saying SRI funds improve corporate behavior, with 66% citing their contribution in enhancing product safety and 59% saying they promote environmental safety.
