Delphi Corp., Troy, Mich., contributed $57 million to its pension plan last week, according to an SEC filing. The company was required to make a minimum contribution of $300 million to its pension plan by Friday; however, Delphi was able to make the partial contribution because it filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in October. The remaining portion of the contribution "remains payable as a claim against Delphi and will be determined in Delphi's plan of reorganization with other claims," said the filing.
Pensions & Investments estimates that Delphi had $8.7 billion in pension assets as of Sept. 30.
