The state of Alaska hired Buck Consultants as the first actuary to the Alaska Retirement Management Board, Juneau. Buck will provide actuarial services to pension funds overseen by the management board, which was formed Oct. 1, according to a news release from Affiliated Computer Services, Buck's parent company.
The funds are the $9 billion Public Employees' Retirement System, the $4.1 billion Teachers' Retirement System, the $76 Judicial Retirement System and the $14 million Military Retirement Trust fund. Board spokeswoman Judy Hall did not return a call for comment; offices were closed for the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday.
