Three internal candidates have thrown their hats in the ring for the CIO slot at CalPERS being vacated by Mark Anson. All three are senior investment officers: Christianna Wood, who oversees the fund's $121 billion global equities program; Curtis Ishii, head of the fund's $60 billion global fixed-income fund; and Mike McCook, who runs the fund's $9 billion real estate program.
Corporate pension executives also are expressing interest in the high-profile job at the $200.7 billion California Public Employees' Retirement System, Sacramento, sources said. However, no interviews have been conducted. CalPERS officials don't expect to fill the position until summer.
