Pennsylvania Public School Employees' Retirement System, Harrisburg, returned 5.02% on its investments for the quarter ended Sept. 30, according to a news release from the $53.8 billion pension plan. The fund's annual return on investments was 17.54%. The returns were driven largely by real estate and alternative investments, which returned 28.75% and 23.80%, respectively, over the last year. International equities returned 29.95% for the year.
The fund's asset allocation as of Sept. 30 was 40.8% domestic stocks, 21.9% international stocks, 18.4% fixed income, 9.4% alternative investments, 6.7% real estate and 2.8% cash.
