One of the most creative titles at a corporation must be personality expert designer.
1-800-FLOWERS.COM Inc. reported adding the position in its proxy statement for its upcoming Dec. 2 annual shareholder meeting. In its fiscal 2005, the company hired Julie Mulligan, the sister of Chairman and CEO James F. McCann and President Christopher G. McCann, for the new job, which paid $129,522.80 in salary and bonus for the year. Her other title, the proxy statement noted, is director of photography.
The tidbit comes from footnoted.org, a website dedicated to revealing telling treasures of information often found deep in financial reports, proxy statements and other SEC filings. Sometimes overlooked by investors, such disclosures provide insight into management and board operations and performance.
Michelle Leder, a longtime journalist who created and maintains footnoted.org, said the website "is not designed to provide analysis, but rather to help investors know how and where companies bury stuff in their routine filings."
Another posting indicated that according to an 8-K filing, Hewitt Associates Inc. granted "65,000 restricted shares to the top four executives and provided change in control severance agreements to what the company described as ‘24 senior executives.' It is an extraordinary number to be covered by such an agreement, the posting noted.
