Peter Labon, Carson Levit and Steve Pigott joined hedge fund manager Pequot Capital Management as managing directors. The positions are new, and the three will develop a new multistrategy hedge fund, said Jonathan Gasthalter, a company spokesman. Messrs. Labon and Levit were managing directors and portfolio managers at Citadel Investment Group until earlier this year. Mr. Labon managed a long-short technology, media and telecom equity fund, and Mr. Levit managed a diversified long-short equity strategy. Katherine Beiser, a Citadel spokeswoman, did not return a call seeking information about their replacements. Mr. Pigott was a portfolio manager for an event-driven/merger arbitrage team at Marin Capital Partners, a hedge fund firm that closed in June. From 1998 to 2004, Mr. Pigott was an analyst and portfolio manager at Citadel specializing in North American merger arbitrage.
Christopher Corish was named a director and senior sales representative for the mid-Atlantic region with the institutional division of Evergreen Investments, said spokesman Dan Flaherty. Mr. Corish replaces Joseph Karpinski, who was appointed managing director of consultant relations in September. Mr. Corish was a managing director with Wachovia Securities, the corporate investment and banking division of Evergreen parent Wachovia Corp. Mr. Flaherty said information on Mr. Corish's replacement at Wachovia isn't immediately available.
Jane Shoemake will join Henderson Global Investors' U.K. equities team in January as investment director responsible for developing consultant and client relationships, said Richard Acworth, spokesman. She was an equity investment specialist at Threadneedle Asset Management. Ms. Shoemake follows in the footsteps of Graham Kitchen, Threadneedle's former head of U.K. equities, who joined Henderson in September as head of the U.K. thematic team. Henderson has £66.5 billion ($114 billion) in assets under management. A Threadneedle spokeswoman did not return calls by press time for comments on replacements.
