Timothy L. Powell joined 40/86 Advisors as vice president, director of private placements, said spokeswoman Cindy Stoller. It is a new position. Mr. Powell was brought in to build a team to invest roughly $2 billion in the private placement market over the next two to three years, he said in a telephone interview. He will be "responsible for originating, analyzing, structuring and negotiating private placement investments for the firm," according to a news release. Previously, Mr. Powell was director of Metropolitan Life Insurance's domestic private placement unit. MetLife spokesman Chris Breslin didn't respond to a request for comment.
