New Frontier Advisors, a financial research and portfolio optimization firm, received its second patent in four years for its rebalancing tool, a portfolio optimization process called "Portfolio Rebalancing by Means of Resampled Efficient Frontiers." Richard Michaud, president, said the process factors in correlations between asset classes and lets investors know when to rebalance and whether they should rebalance between asset classes that are highly correlated. In April 2000, New Frontier received a patent for its "Resampled Efficient Portfolio Optimization Process," which calculates the average of hundreds of efficient frontiers and runs the data through a Monte Carlo simulation.
