David Barrett plans to open the doors of a new executive recruitment boutique, David Barrett Partners LLC, on Sept. 6. The New York-based firm's five partners intend to create "the pre-eminent investment and wealth management specialist boutique," Mr. Barrett said.
Mr. Barrett has 20 years of experience in recruiting in the money management arena, most recently as a partner at Higdon Barrett LLC, New York. Previously, he was partner-in-charge of the global asset and wealth management practice in the New York office of Heidrick & Struggles International Inc.
Joining Mr. Barrett are money management recruitment specialists Anne M. Keyser, who was managing director at Higdon Barrett (which has been renamed Higdon Partners); Edward A. Kister Jr., most recently chief financial officer of Gow & Partners LLC, New York; Danit Ben-Zvi, who ran her own firm, Search Innovations, in New York (which will be closing); and Darryl Adachi, who was a partner at Heidrick & Struggles.
Mr. Barrett said he and Hank Higdon, founder of his former firm, parted on good terms: "I have wanted to start my own firm for some time, and Hank understands this."
Mr. Higdon concurred. "I agree with David's move, and now is the time to do it," he said, adding that his one regret when he left a large executive recruitment firm and started his own shop at 45 years of age was that he didn't do it earlier.
