David Barrett will open the doors of David Barrett Partners in New York on Sept. 6. The boutique executive recruitment firm will specialize in upper-level investment management and wealth management recruitment. Mr. Barrett has 20 years of experience in recruiting in the money management arena, most recently as a partner at Higdon Barrett and at Heidrick & Struggles. Joining Mr. Barrett are money management recruitment specialists Anne M. Keyser, who also was a partner at Higdon Barrett; Edward A. Kister Jr., most recently CFO of Gow & Partners; Danit Ben-Zvi, who was running her own firm, Search Innovations, which will be closing; and Darryl Adachi, who was a partner at Heidrick & Struggles. Hank Higdon, founder of Higdon Barrett, said the firm has been renamed Higdon Partners. There are no immediate plans to replace Mr. Barrett, Mr. Higdon said.
William T. Connolly, national sales director for Putnam Investment's retail management business, will replace Richard A. Monaghan as head of Putnam Retail Management at the end of September, said spokeswoman Nancy Fisher. Mr. Monaghan said he plans to explore "a new stage in my career," according to a Putnam news release. Mr. Connolly will retain his duties as national sales director and also oversee sales and marketing for Putnam's mutual funds, separately managed accounts, alternative strategies, client-service organizations, midmarket 401(k) and Taft-Hartley business. Also, Mr. Connolly and Sandra C. Whiston, who was named head of Putnam's institutional sales earlier this year, will both join the firm's executive board.
