Gita R. Rao was named a quantitative portfolio manager at MFS Institutional Advisors, said John Reilly, spokesman. The position is new. Ms. Rao will oversee the management of the firm's global quantitative portfolios and lead its research into international stock selection models. Ms. Rao was an associate partner, global equity portfolio manager and director of quantitative research at Wellington Management. Lisa D. Finkel, a spokeswoman for Wellington, couldn't immediately be reached for comment.
Alex Ineichen will move to UBS Global Asset Management's alternative and quantitative investments group in October to serve in a "senior research capacity" for the specialist hedge fund unit, according to a company news release. Mr. Ineichen is head of alternative investment strategies at UBS Investment Research, where he has led hedge fund research for the investment bank since 2000. Mr. Ineichen will report to Mike Welch, CIO and head of alternative investment solutions at A&Q.
David Cavanaugh was named a senior analyst at small-cap growth equity manager Copper Rock Capital Partners, said Tucker Hewes, spokesman. It is a new position. Mr. Cavanaugh was a vice president and equity research analyst with MFS Investment Management, focusing on consumer and business services, computer hardware and regional banks. MFS spokesman John Riley said Mr. Cavanaugh's duties have been assumed by other members of the small/midcap growth team.
