Nick Ford will join F&C Asset Management on Aug. 15 as director-U.S. smaller companies, which comprises small-cap and some midcap equities, said Robert Siddles, director and head of U.S. smaller companies. Deborah James, an F&C spokeswoman, said the position is new and Mr. Ford will report to Mr. Siddles. Messrs. Ford and Siddles will jointly manage funds, including the $62 million F&C U.S. Smaller Companies fund. Mr. Ford is a small-cap and midcap portfolio manager at Gartmore Global Investments. Edward Dunn, a Gartmore spokesman, said Mr. Ford will leave the firm at the end of July and there are no plans at the "immediate time" to replace him.
Joseph Grant was named director of employer plan rulings and agreements in the Internal Revenue Service's tax exempt/governmental entities division, confirmed Steve Pryrek, an IRS spokesman. He replaces Paul Shultz, who retired earlier this year. Mr. Grant was chief operating officer of the PBGC. "He's still on staff at the PBGC so no announcement has been made about a replacement for him here," said PBGC spokesman Jeffrey Speicher. Mr. Grant's departure is the third high-level departure from the PBGC this year, following that of James J. Keightley, general counsel, in January, and more recently that of John Seal, chief management and human capital officer. Judith R. Starr was named general counsel yesterday. Mr. Seal retired June 30. No replacement has yet been named, Mr. Speicher said.
Victoria Grissom and Kevin Howard were named institutional client advisers at JPMorgan Asset Management, said Jacqueline Meere, spokeswoman. Both positions are new. Ms. Grissom will focus on the western U.S. and will report to Michael Davis, managing director and head of institutional sales for the West. Mr. Howard will cover the eastern U.S. and will report to John Baumann, managing director and head of institutional sales for the East. JPMorgan Asset Management runs roughly $790 billion. Ms. Grissom was a senior vice president in charge of client service, communication and new business development for the western region at State Street Research and Management. Mr. Howard was a corporate and non-profit relationship manager at Hartford Investment Management. Brian Beades, spokesman for BlackRock, which acquired SSRM last year, and Cynthia Michener, spokeswoman for Hartford, could not be reached for comment by press time.
