Brian M. DeChristopher has been named a portfolio manager on Putnam's Vista and New Opportunities funds, said Laura McNamara, a spokeswoman for Putnam Investments. Mr. DeChristopher, an analyst on Putnam's midcap growth equity team, replaces Paul Marrkand, an 18-year Putnam veteran who was co-portfolio leader on those funds; Mr. Marrkand resigned "to manage money elsewhere," according to a news release by Putnam. Ms. McNamara could not say where Mr. Marrkand is going. She said Putnam has not yet replaced Mr. DeChristopher.
Cesar Baez, director of alternative investments for the $69.7 billion New Jersey Division of Investment, Trenton, will leave at the end of the month. Kathy Hennessy, public information officer, said she could not comment on personnel matters. Mr. Baez said in an interview that he has not decided on his future, although it will probably be in hedge funds or private equity. The fund has 5% of total assets in private equity, 4% in hedge funds and 4% in real estate.
