Robert Soucy, director of U.S. equity management for Grantham, Mayo, Van Otterloo and a senior member of the firm's U.S. quantitative division, will retire at the end of this year, said Tucker Hewes, a spokesman for the firm. Sam Wilderman, co-director of U.S. equity management since April, will become managing director of U.S. equities following Mr. Soucy's retirement.
Jamie Shepherdson was named executive vice president of AXA Financial and will head AXA Distributors, the company's wholesale distribution division he helped found in 1996, said spokesman Jeffrey Tolvin. Mr. Shepherdson will also become a member of AXA Financial's executive management committee. He replaces Jerry Hampton, who resigned in June, said Mr. Tolvin. Information on Mr. Hampton's departure could not be learned by press time. Mr. Shepherdson was the CEO of John Hancock Funds. As reported last week, Mr. Shepherdson will be replaced by Keith F. Hartstein, effective July 18. In a telephone interview, Mr. Shepherdson said he was excited to come back to the wholesale distribution division to help execute AXA's "very aggressive growth plans" for the coming years.
