Hewlett-Packard Co., Palo Alto, Calif., contributed about $245 million to its pension plans during its fiscal second quarter, ended April 30. The company's quarterly report, filed Wednesday with the SEC, said Hewlett-Packard contributed about $785 million to the plans in the first two quarters of fiscal 2005. Hewlett-Packard officials expect the company will contribute an additional $65 million to the pension plans during the remainder of the fiscal year, according to the report. Company officials said in the annual report they expected Hewlett-Packard would contribute a total of $850 million during fiscal 2005.
Hewlett-Packard's pension plans had about $9.2 billion in total assets as of Oct. 31, and the plans were underfunded by about $2.1 billion at that date, according to the company's annual report.
