Annual investment management fees for mutual funds in all retirement plans should be 58 basis points or less, according to Invesmart's Retirement Portfolio Cost Barometer. This compares with fees of 63 basis points in November 2004.
The cost barometer summarizes several sample portfolios created by Invesmart that range from conservative to aggressive risk profiles. The barometer is based on the most expensive portfolio within that spectrum.
The largest fee decrease over the past six months was in international equities, down by nine basis points to 0.64%.
