William E. Locke joined Brown Brothers Harriman as vice president, client service, and Crossan R. Barnes joined the firm as regional sales manager for North America, according to Patricia Fallon, senior vice president and co-manager of the firm's securities lending group. Both positions are new. Mr. Locke will be a senior client relationship manager for existing Brown Brothers securities lending clients in the United States. Mr. Barnes will report to Joyce Dardonis, senior vice president and head of sales for the Americas. Mr. Locke was vice president of securities finance at State Street Corp., and Mr. Barnes was a securities finance client service officer at State Street. Information on their replacements was not available by press time.
Joseph Gill joined alternatives manager Highland Financial Holdings Group as senior vice president and chief marketing officer. It is a new position, said Anne Taylor Reed, Highland Financial spokeswoman. Mr. Gill was vice president of marketing at BlackRock. Brian Beades, a BlackRock spokesman, said the company does not comment on personnel changes as a matter of policy.
Douglas MacKay, director-research and portfolio manager with Oak Associates, left the firm for personal reasons, said Howard Monaghan, a spokesman for the firm. CIO James D. Oelschlager assumed Mr. MacKay's responsibilities as research director, and portfolio manager Jeff Travis has taken Mr. MacKay's place as co-manager of the Red Oak Technology Select Fund, while portfolio managers Robert Stimpson and Mark Oelschlager replaced him on the management teams of the White Oak Select Growth Fund and the Pin Oak Aggressive Stock Fund, respectively.
