Southfield (Mich.) General Employees' Retirement System officials will meet May 24 with Gray & Co., the $87 million pension fund's consultant, to consider candidates in the plan's search for an active domestic small-cap equity manager and an active international equity manager, said Lauri Siskind, senior human resources specialist. Gray & Co. issued RFPs in the first quarter and the deadline for responses was in mid-April. The managers will likely run a combined $37 million, but Ms. Siskind said a breakdown for each manager has not yet been determined. Funding will come from terminating active domestic midcap value manager Independence Investments; she would not say why the firm was terminated. There isn't a timetable for hiring the managers, but officials expect "to move expeditiously," she said.
