Nunzio Masone and Martin DeVito were named managing directors of Aladdin Capital Management's new asset-backed securities and commercial mortgage-backed securities team, the company said in a news release. Both positions are new. They will join Anatoly Burman, who came to the company in February to build the ABS and CMBS team. Messrs. Masone and DeVito came from AIG Global Investment Group, where Mr. Masone was a senior portfolio manager overseeing a residential mortgage-backed and asset-backed securities credit portfolio, and Mr. DeVito was a CMBS portfolio manager. Also, Shirley Cho is joining Aladdin from AIG Global as a research analyst, supporting the team. AIG spokesman Joe Norton said no replacements have yet been named.
Mitesh Sheth was named as investment director at Henderson Global Investors, developing Henderson's liability-driven investment product unit, confirmed Richard Acworth, spokesman. The position is new. Mr. Sheth was a consultant in Watson Wyatt's investment manager research group. Calls to officials at Watson Wyatt were not returned by press time.
Catherine Pemberton was named senior vice president, director of marketing, at McHugh Associates. The position is new. Ms. Pemberton was a vice president and manager for the central division at Nuveen Advisor Consulting Services' national firms division, focused on selling Nuveen's retail products through broker-dealer channels. Dave Dunton, a vice president of sales in the central division, replaced Ms. Pemberton, said Nuveen spokeswoman Laurel O'Brien.
Michael Gardner was hired as senior managing director at broker-dealer Institutional Direct, a subsidiary of Bear Stearns, to run the firm's transition management business, according to spokeswoman Monica Orbe. It is a new position. Mr. Gardner was manager of trading implementation at Russell Investment Group. He was replaced by Jason Lenzo, who was the firm's senior trader on the trading implementation team, according to Russell spokesman Steve Claiborne.
