Gartmore's global hedge fund assets totaled $6.3 billion as of today, nearly six years after the launch of its AlphaGen series of 19 single-manager hedge funds. Gartmore combined its traditional and alternative investment management business in 2004 under Charles Beazley, global head of institutional and alternative investments. "Institutional investors are increasingly turning to us for advice and strategies that help meet their investment needs, which encompass the need for absolute return and alpha generation," he said in a statement. "We do not draw a distinction anymore."
