Bernstein Litowitz Berger & Grossman led the list of the top 50 plaintiffs' law firms for class action securities litigation settlements in 2004, having a hand in attaining 57%, or $3.466 billion, of the total amount recovered last year, according to Securities Class Action Services, a unit of Institutional Shareholder Services.
Barrack Rodos & Bacine ranked second, and Milberg Weiss Bershad & Schulman ranked third, involved in attaining $2.888 billion and $909 million, respectively, in securities litigation settlements last year.
SCAS gives full credit for the settlements to both lead and co-lead plaintiff counsels in the rankings.
Milberg Weiss led the ranking in number of settlements last year, at 43. It was followed by Schiffrin & Barroway at 21 settlements totaling $250.762 million.
