New York State Common Retirement Fund, Albany, invested $1.8 million in Tri-Ed Distribution, a wholesale distributor of security products, according to John Chartier, spokesman for Alan G. Hevesi, New York state comptroller and sole trustee of the $120 billion retirement fund. Mr. Chartier said the investment was made through New York-based private equity firm Wheatley Partners, to which the fund has committed $50 million. This latest investment is the second private equity investment the fund has made through Wheatley, bringing its total investment through the firm to $3.3 million.
