Fidelity Investments will close its $2.1 billion International Small Cap fund to most new investors at the close of business May 5, said Sophie Launay, spokeswoman. Company officials think it's "in the best interest of shareholders" to limit purchases because the fund has grown at such a rapid pace. The fund, which opened in September 2002, had $747.5 million in assets as of Dec. 31, 2003. Existing investors will be able to continue investing in the fund, along with participants in defined contribution plans that offer the fund as an investment option.
