Navistar International Corp., Warrenville, Ill., plans to contribute $20 million to its pension plans this year, according to a filing with the SEC. The firm has already contributed $6 million in the quarter ended Jan. 31. For its 2004 fiscal year, ended Oct. 31, the company contributed $231 million, according to its annual report. Navistar had $3.1 billion in pension assets and $3.9 billion in pension liabilities as of Oct. 31.
Separately, Maytag Corp., Newton, Iowa, made $15.7 million in pension contributions in the three months ended April 2 and expects to contribute $85 million more by the end of the year, according to a filing with the SEC. By contrast, the company contributed $70.6 million in the three months ended April 3, 2004, and $94.3 million for all of last year. The company had $1.2 billion in pension assets and $1.8 billion in pension liabilities as of Jan. 1, according to its annual report.
