Teachers' Retirement System of Louisiana, Baton Rouge, hired Mellon Capital Management to run international indexed equities, subject to contract finalization, said Bonita B. Brown, director. Officials at the $12.4 billion plan will use the manager as needed, and Mellon may manage an EAFE index fund; the amount is dependent on the outcome of the pension fund's separate active large-cap international equity manager search, she said. Acadian Asset Management, Alliance Capital Management, LSV Asset Management and Mondrian Investment Partners are finalists in that search, for a manager to run between $200 million and $400 million. A selection is likely at meetings May 1-2. Funding will come from cash, a general rebalancing and termination of an existing manager, which Ms. Brown declined to identify because it hasn't yet been informed.
