New York City Comptroller William C. Thompson issued an RFP for a shareholder research firm for the $88 billion New York City Retirement Systems. Mr. Thompson's goal is to pressure public companies in which the city invests for better corporate governance and ethics, said Yvette Jackson, a spokeswoman. The research firm will investigate companies in matters regarding corporate governance, corporate social responsibility, corporate actions analysis, fair employment practices, terrorism and proliferation of weapons, and special project requests. The RFP is available by e-mailing Eric Wollman, an attorney in the comptroller's office, at [email protected] Proposals are due April 18, and a selection is expected sometime during the summer.
