The South Carolina Retirement System, Columbia, picked finalists in its search for active domestic large-cap growth and value managers. The investment panel picked Aronson + Johnson + Ortiz and Pzena Investment Management as finalists for the value portfolio and Legg Mason, Sands Capital Management, WCM Investment Management and Waddell & Reed as finalists for the growth portfolio, said Michael Sponhour, spokesman for the South Carolina Budget and Control Board, which manages the $25 billion pension fund. The investment panel plans to pick managers at its April 9 meeting to recommend to the board. The system has not yet determined the number of managers it will hire or the source of funding.
