FedEx Corp., Memphis, Tenn., contributed $460 million to its pension plans during the first three quarters of fiscal 2005, including $160 million in the third quarter, ended Feb. 28, according to a quarterly report filed with the SEC. Company officials don't expect any additional required contributions in the fiscal fourth quarter, but the company may make additional voluntary contributions.
The company's pension plans had assets of about $7.8 billion as of May 31, 2004, according to the filing. At that time, the plans were underfunded by $900 million.
