The Hennessee Hedge Fund index gained 1.36% in February, the result of strong equity markets, said Hennessee Group spokesman Alexander Smith-Ryland. The index trailed the S&P 500, which gained 2.1% in February. Mr. Smith-Ryland said the Hennessee index is up 1.07% for the year as of Feb. 28; the S&P 500 is down 0.38% for the same period.
S&P's Hedge Fund index rose 0.83% in February for a positive year-to-date return of 0.36%, said David R. Guarino, S&P spokesman.
