Larry A. Kohn will assume joint oversight of J.P. Morgan Alternative Asset Management with CIO Peter Zumo. The two will replace President and CEO Joel Katzman when he retires April 30, Mr. Katzman said. Mr. Kohn joined the hedge funds-of-funds manager Feb. 28 and will handle the administrative and operations side as head of business management. It is a new position. He was managing director and an institutional marketer at hedge funds-of-funds manager Quellos Group, which he left last June. JPAAM manages nearly $9 billion in hedge funds-of-funds strategies.
Illinois State Universities Retirement System, Champaign, selected four executive recruiting firms as finalists to conduct a national search for a CIO, said James M. Hacking, executive director. Trustees will interview representatives of the firms - DHR, EFL Associates, Heidrick & Struggles, and Hudepohl & Associates - at the fund's March 10 investment committee meeting and expect to make a recommendation on which firm to select then, he said. The search will probably take at least three months, Mr. Hacking said. The CIO oversees Illinois SURS' $13.2 billion in defined benefit assets and $291 million in defined contribution assets. John R. Krimmel left as CIO in January to become CIO of the $13.37 billion Kentucky Retirement System, Frankfort. Dan Allen, deputy CIO, was named acting CIO in the interim.
Robert Guillocheau was appointed president of BISYS Retirement Services, according to a news release. He replaces Christopher Guarino, who left the company to pursue other opportunities. Mr. Guillocheau joined BISYS in 2003 as chief operating officer and executive vice president for retirement services. Information about who will replace Mr. Guillocheau was not available.

DDJ now manages about $2.8 billion for 73 U.S. institutional investors. Mr. Flynn was a senior vice president and utility sector analyst at Putnam Investments. Laura McNamara, a Putnam spokeswoman, said Mr. Flynn's duties have been assumed by others.
