I don't know what ax Beatrix Payne has to grind regarding the appointment of new CIOs at Stichting Pensioenfonds ABP and PGGM (Pensions & Investments, Feb. 7, page 4).
I don't know the appointees. But I was taken aback with the hatchet job leveled on these just appointed CIOs from vague unsourced innuendo.
The article was laced with unnamed "market sources" and "many industry observers" slams. This article should be an embarrassment to P&I. I've seldom see this type of invective even in the rough and tumble of political journalism — certainly not in a newspaper purporting to cover an industry with any sense of knowledge.
