William W. Hunt was named president and CEO of State Street Global Advisors. He had been executive vice president of State Street Corp.'s global relationship management group.
Mr. Hunt succeeds Timothy B. Harbert, who died of a heart attack in August. Since then, Alan Brown and Peter Leahy had been interim co-CEOs, in addition to their other responsibilities. Now, Messrs. Brown and Leahy will go back to being global CIO and COO, respectively.
Mr. Hunt will report to Ronald E. Logue, State Street's chairman and CEO. Mr. Hunt joined SSgA in 1994 as managing director of the Tokyo office and came to Boston in 2001 to head the firm's international business.
Douglas Miller, an executive vice president and senior relationship manager, will succeed Mr. Hunt in the relationship management group.
