

Richard Burns, joint senior partner and CIO of Baillie Gifford, will retire in April 2006, said Mike Lord, spokesman. In May 2006, Charles Plowden, head of U.K. equities, will become joint senior partner in addition to his existing role, and James Anderson, deputy CIO, will become CIO. Mr. Lord said the firm will not name another deputy CIO. Separately, Jonathan Bates, Patrick Edwardson and Iain McCombie will be named partners in Baillie Gifford, effective May 1. Each of the three fund managers will remain in his current role. Baillie Gifford had £32 billion ($60.2 billion) in assets under management as of Dec. 31.
Michael J. Mahoney was named director, investor relations for Union Labor Life Insurance and Trust Fund Advisors, a new position. Both firms are subsidiaries of ULLICO Inc. Mr. Mahoney will market the Separate Account J and Trust Fund Advisors investment strategies in New York, New Jersey and all New England states. He takes over for Ken Hartman, director of investment sales, who left the firm in December, and Jack Konievih, regional sales executive, who left the firm in June. Mr. Mahoney was vice president of business development at HGK Asset Management. Information on a replacement was not available at press time.
