Chicago Public School Teachers' Pension and Retirement Fund will seek two managers to run $5 million each in private equity, said Kevin Huber, CFO and acting executive director. The $10.3 billion fund will not issue an RFP, but interested firms should contact Mercer Investment Consulting through the end of February, he said. The consultant, which will also consider firms already in its database, will then recommend five or six firms. Interviews will be scheduled for early in the second quarter. Funding will come from cash and rebalancing; no managers will be terminated.
The fund also plans to begin a search next month for an executive director to replace Michael Nehf, who left the fund at the end of last year. The board of trustees is considering whether to use a recruiting firm to assistant in finding candidates, said Patricia A. Knazze, president.
