John Monckton, managing director-bonds at U.K. money manager Legal & General Investment Management, was murdered and his wife was stabbed last night at their home in Chelsea. According to a Metropolitan Police statement, Mr. Monckton, 49, died of his injuries last night at a London hospital. His wife, Homeyra, underwent emergency surgery and is in stable condition. Police are searching for two youths who forced their way into the Moncktons' house through the front door.
Mr. Monckton oversaw %A3;34 billion ($64.39 billion) in active fixed income at L&G and was responsible for asset allocation at the firm, said Steve Leach, L&G spokesman.
"John will be greatly missed by his colleagues … he had a deep insight into financial markets. He built up a strong team who admired him greatly and will carry on his work," said Tim Breedon, L&G group director, investments.
