T. Britton Harris IV, Verizon Investment Management's outgoing president, set up a three-member management committee to assume his duties until his replacement is hired, Mr. Harris said in an interview today. William J. Raver, COO and managing director-external equities; Wayne Hofmann, managing director-equity/trading; and A. Jay Baldwin, managing director-private equity, will be on the panel. Mr. Harris, who was named CEO of Bridgewater Associates effective Jan. 1, will leave Verizon Nov. 19. Doreen Toben, CFO of parent Verizon Communications Inc., New York, will decide on Mr. Harris' replacement, he said. He believes she first will look at candidates within the company before deciding if it is necessary to search externally. Mr. Harris said his biggest contribution to Bridgewater will be "to help them focus on investing effectively by relieving Bob (Prince) and Ray (Dalio, co-CIOs) and others at the other of their (business) management responsibilities, so they can devote more efforts to investing."
