The New York State Teachers' Retirement System, Albany, renewed the one-year contracts of Peregrine Capital Management, which manages a $367 million active domestic small-cap growth equity portfolio for the system, and Baillie Gifford Overseas, which manages a $354 million active international equity portfolio. John Cordillo, spokesman for the $77 billion pension fund, said both managers will remain on the fund's watch list for performance; they've both been on watch since May. Representatives from the two companies didn't return calls by press time.
The pension fund also committed $30 million to ING Clarion Development Ventures II, an opportunistic real estate fund; $30 million to the ABRY V fund, a private equity firm that focuses on the media sector; and $175 million to CSFB Strategic Partners III, a venture capital fund.
