Kristina Smorol was named portfolio director at alternatives firm Madison Capital Management. She will have a special focus on real estate investment opportunities, according to a company news release. She was a senior associate in TIAA-CREF's real estate equities group; her responsibilities have been delegated to others in the group, said Glen Weiner, TIAA-CREF spokesman. Madison manages more than $300 million in alternatives, including real estate and distressed debt. Bryan Gordon, Madison chairman and managing director, did not return calls by press time seeking further details.
David Scammell was named U.K. gilt fund manager at Schroder Investment Management, effective Nov. 8, said Lauren Stewart, spokeswoman. He replaces Andrew Argyle, who left earlier this year to join Goldman Sachs' investment bank business. Mr. Scammell was director of investments at hedge fund Anchorage Capital Partners. Bernard Wagenmann, Anchorage CEO, said the firm is looking for Mr. Scammell's replacement.
