Steven Herbert was named head of Mercer Investment Consulting's new analytics and research division, based in New York, confirmed Mercer spokeswoman Stephanie Poe. Mr. Herbert, who is relocating from London where he was senior consultant for Mercer, is scheduled to begin his new position Oct. 11. The new unit, Mercer Analytics & Research, will provide research, databases and software including performance analytics software, manager research and ratings databases, capital market research and industry surveys. Ms. Poe said she did not know whether Mr. Herbert would be replaced in London.
Lord Abbett named five new partners: Michael L. Radziemski, chief information officer; Milton Ezrati, senior economic and market strategist; Gerard S.E. Heffernan Jr., portfolio manager of Lord Abbett Micro-Cap Value and Small-Cap Value funds; Jerald M. Lanzotti, portfolio manager, Lord Abbett Global Fixed Income fund; and Richard C. Larsen, research analyst, Lord Abbett Large-Cap Value fund. The firm has been expanding the number of partners in recent years "to increase the number of businesses represented at the partnership level," said Jason Farago, spokesman. Lord Abbett now has 50 partners.
Peter Lewis will join Tuckerbrook Alternative Investments as a general partner at the end of October. He will create a new real estate investment fund and co-manage a real assets fund. Mr. Lewis is currently director of real estate at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Cambridge, where he ran a $650 million real estate portfolio. MIT executives have not replaced him, Mr. Lewis said. Calls to Allan Bufferd, MIT treasurer in charge of its $8 billion in endowment and pension assets, were not returned by press time.
