Retirement Systems of Alabama, Montgomery, will receive a total of $111 million in a settlement with WorldCom Inc.'s three investment banks and an accounting firm. JPMorgan Securities, Citigroup Global Markets, Banc of America Securities and the former Arthur Andersen settled a civil suit filed by the $22 billion system. David Bronner, system CEO, said the fund lost $124.7 million it held in WorldCom stocks and bonds when the company filed for Chapter 11 Bankruptcy protection. The system was originally part of a class-action suit against WorldCom and the three investment banks but was permitted by the U.S. Court of Appeals last month to sue the banks and Arthur Andersen in Alabama state court. Spokesmen for Citigroup, JPMorgan Securities and Banc of America did not return calls.
