South Carolina Budget and Control Board's investment panel invited American Express Asset Management, Integrity Asset Management and Thompson Siegel and Walmsley in a short-list search to run one or more active domestic small-cap value equity portfolios for the $24 billion South Carolina Retirement System. The size of the portfolios has not been decided, said Michael Sponhour, spokesman.
Separately, the investment panel also invited Numeric Investors and Turner Investment Partners to run "perhaps one or more" active domestic small-cap growth equity portfolios, he said. The panel has not yet decided when it will interview the candidates.
Money for both small-cap searches will come from trimming a $274 million State Street Global Advisors S&P 500 index fund. Mercer Investment Consulting asMercer Investment ConsultingMercer Investment Consulting assisted.
