Sysco Corp., Houston, contributed $160 million in cash to its retirement plans in fiscal 2004, ended July 3, according to the firm's annual report filed with the SEC. The company will not be required to make contributions to the plans, with a combined $859.3 million in assets, in fiscal 2005 to meet ERISA minimum funding requirements, but it expects to make a voluntary contribution of about $80 million. Separately, the company increased the discount rate it uses to calculate liabilities to 6.25% from 6%.
