Allan Conway was named head of emerging markets equities at Schroders, according to a news release from the firm. He was CEO and head of global emerging markets at WestAM (U.K.), said John Godfrey, WestAM spokesman. Hugh Hunter, who had worked for Mr. Conway on the emerging markets team, replaced him as head of global emerging markets; Luke Nunneley, CEO of WestAM, temporarily replaced Mr. Conway as CEO of U.K. operations. Mr. Godfrey could not say if the firm is searching for a permanent replacement. Mr. Conway will assume the investment responsibilities of Peter Clark, who remains CEO of Schroders Americas, and will report to Ken Lambden, global head of equities. Officials at Schroders in London and New York were not available for comment by press time to provider further details.
Heidi J. Levin was named vice president of the private equity group of Northern Trust Global Advisors, a new position, said Richard Jurek, vice president. Ms. Levin was senior vice president for Comdisco, heading the company's minority investments in start-ups. Details on her former position could not be learned by press time.
Srinivas Pulavarti was named head of global investment strategy for New York-based Citigroup's $14 billion in pension investments effective Sept. 27. He will also help oversee administration and management of Citigroup's $10 billion defined contribution plan. It is a new position. Mr. Pulavarti was director of investments at Johns Hopkins University, Baltimore, responsible for managing its $2 billion endowment and a combined $700 million in pension and retiree medical assets. Mr. Pulavarti said Johns Hopkins will probably hire a firm to search for his replacement; Treasurer John Snow did not return a call requesting comment.
Gail L. Hanson was named deputy executive director of the State of Wisconsin Investment Board, Madison. The position had been vacant since 1997. She was senior vice president, treasurer and CFO at Cobalt Corp.; she left the firm in March when it was acquired by WellPoint Health Networks. SWIB has $69 billion in assets, including $63.6 billion in retirement funds.
