Roger Lee will be the first full-time faculty member for the University of Chicago's master of science in financial mathematics program. The move is the latest milestone in the university's campaign to distinguish itself as a so-called "M-school" from among the pack of so-called "B-schools" offering master of business administration programs.
Under Mr. Lee's guidance, U of C's financial mathematics curriculum will teach students the mathematics of complex financial instruments, quantitative asset management strategies and derivatives management.
Mr. Lee was a Szego assistant professor of applied mathematics at Stanford University, Palo Alto, Calif. His recent research has focused on volatility modeling, options pricing and hedging of exotic derivative instruments.
