The Pennsylvania Public School Employees' Retirement System, Harrisburg, hired AllianceBernstein to run $900 million in international equities, according to Evelyn Tatkovski, spokeswoman. Officials at the $45 billion pension fund terminated the portfolio's previous manager, Capital Guardian, for performance, said Ms. Tatkovski. Wilshire Associates assisted. Separately, Washington State Investment Board, Olympia, with $44 billion in pension assets, put Capital International on watch for performance of its $176 million emerging markets growth equity portfolio, said Linda Lester, investment officer. Chuck Freadhoff, spokesman for Capital Group, parent of both Capital Guardian and Capital International, said the firm does not comment on client matters.
