Michael Miele was appointed chairman and chief investment officer of the private equity group at Goldman Sachs, New York. Both positions are new. He was managing director and co-head of the private equity group, said Andrea Raphael, Goldman Sachs spokeswoman. Christopher Kojima and Charles Baillie were named co-heads of the private equity group; both were portfolio managers and are now managing directors, Ms. Raphael said.
The changes were made in response to the departures of Geoff Clark and Elisabeth Varley Camp. Mr. Clark, former co-head of the group, is exploring new business opportunities and may raise a private equity fund sometime next year. Ms. Varley Camp, former managing director, is expected to open a New York office for Ewing Management Group, a Dallas private equity firm, according to sources.
