Leon Shahinian was promoted to senior investment officer for the $20 billion alternative investment management program of the $165.1 billion California Public Employees' Retirement System, said Brad Pacheco, spokesman. He replaces Rick Hayes, who left the Sacramento fund to become a managing partner at Oak Hill Capital Management. Mr. Shahinian was senior portfolio manager for alternatives at CalPERS; officials have not yet decided how his position will be filled.
