Washington State Investment Board, Olympia, is putting new emphasis on its search for a real estate investment officer.
The position has been vacant for more than a year because fund officials have not found the right person, said Liz Mendizabal, public affairs director. Last year, Steve Draper was promoted to senior investment officer, in charge of investing WSIB's $4.2 billion real estate portfolio. Two investment officers report to Mr. Draper. Hannah Jirasetpatana was hired three months ago, and fund officials are now looking to fill the second position.
Candidates must have a bachelor's degree in business, finance, economics or a related field of study; four years of direct, comparable experience in institutional real estate investment management; and excellent written and oral communication skills, as well as effective interpersonal skills and a desire to be a team player. Those interested should submit a Washington state application, resume, letter of interest with a description of experience and name, address and phone number of three references to State Investment Board, Attention: Human Resources Dept., P.O.
