Lawrence Churchill was named chairman of the U.K.'s Pension Protection Fund, a new position, effective in July, said Stewart Todd, spokesman for the government's Department for Work and Pensions. Mr. Churchill is chief executive officer of Zurich Financial Services, London. The fund will be based in Southeast England, although the exact location hasn't been determined, said Mr. Todd. Mr. Churchill was unavailable for comment. A spokeswoman at Zurich said Mr. Churchill notified the firm on May 6 that he would step down from his chief executive post; she declined further comment.
